Current FundraisingMarch 20, 2010New Exhibits to get underway at McAdam Railway Station To further enhance and develop the historical significance of specific rooms at the McAdam Railway Station exhibits depicting the activities and time period appropriate to each area will be created. The photographs, memorabilia and artifacts are now on site, but exhibits have not been created. Exhibits will be established in five rooms; Roadmaster's Office, Carmen's Office, Baggage Room, Mail Room and the Express Office. These areas of the station have been restored and opened to the public for the first time in June, 2011. Specifically the following work will be undertaken; Twenty tools used by the railroaders in the maintenance and reapir of railway cars and trackage (particularly used by Carmen, Breakeman and Maintenance of Way employees) will be wall mounted and displayed with interpretive panels created for each. Each panel will be bilingual naming the tool, its uniqueness and usage. Panels will be approximately 12" by 24" in size. Creation of a unique display depicting the Auxiliary Railway Car also known as the Emergency Response car for derailments along the rail line. This special unit was located in McAdam and responded to all derailments east of Montreal. The entire crew for this train consisted of railway employees from McAdam. This display will be located in the Express Room and will consist of; a) large picture of the railway car with bilingual interpretive panel b) partitions (walls) made of materials that once was used inside the rail car c) displays set up within the area created showing lunch area, first aid area and foreman's work station d) additional photo's will be framed for display and several small artifacts will be preserved and protected under glass * A large 4' by 8' glass top will be constructed over the original work table located in the Mail Room. Several artifacts will be placed under the glass with brief bilingual descriptions of each * Four cabinets will be constructed to house appropriate artifacts to the Express Room, Baggage Room, Carmen's Office and Roadmaster's Office. These units will have glass tops aand glass shelving *Eight Pictures will be enlarged and framed to be placed in the rooms identified. These framed pictures will be appropriately labelled and identified to depict the heritage, significance and activities that once took place in the rooms at the McAdam Railway Station There is now an opportunity for individuals and groups to sponsor any one or more of the exhibits to be established. interpretive panels, pictures and display cabinets will all be needed to help create the new exhibit. A sponsorship level for various artifacts, memorabilia and displays can be made available to accommodate your choice of display item and the amount most suited to your desired contribution. The following items are available for sponsorship; 1. Intrepretive Panels: (various sizes available) - $200 - $300 - $500 2. Large picture of Auxiliary Railway Car with panel - $600 3. Framed elarged photographs with brief descriptions provided (various sizes available) - $200 - $350 - $500 4. Artifact display in the Mail Room - $800 5. Display cabinet for eachy of the Express Room, Baggage Room, Carman's Office and Raodmaster's Office $900 each All donors who provide funding for the items noted above will be appropriately recognized in a display at or near the exhibit site.
